The bridge between business and data: you turn requirements into insight, profiling data and building the reporting clients actually act on.
We're building something that doesn't exist yet in Suriname: a young, ambitious AI & Tech hub where local talent gets a real shot at world-class technology careers, without leaving home.
Between ambitious business goals and a modern data platform sits a gap, and gaps like that are where projects quietly fail. Requirements get lost in translation, data quality erodes unnoticed, and teams build the wrong thing beautifully.
That's where you come in. You're the bridge: the person who sits with business stakeholders and actually listens, then walks over to the data side and turns what they need into contracts, rules and mappings that engineers can build against. You keep customer data trustworthy as its Data Steward, and you make sure insight doesn't just get produced but gets acted on.
And because we're early, the way you run discovery, document decisions and steward data quality will become how the hub does it. You're not inheriting a process; you're writing the first draft of it.
What you'll do
• Guard the quality of our data. Manage the data-quality review process and act as Data Steward for customer data, because every model, dashboard and decision downstream depends on it.
• Define the rules of the road. Establish data contracts, data-quality rules and transformation rules, so that the question of what a field actually means has one answer, written down.
• Run discovery that gets to the truth. Plan and lead elicitation sessions with business and IT stakeholders. Design and facilitate workshops and interviews that surface what people really need, not just what they first ask for.
• Partner with the architects. Collaborate with Data Architects on data modeling, business rules and use cases, making sure the technical design serves the business reality.
• Get hands-on with the data. Perform data discovery, assessment and profiling yourself: SQL, Spark SQL, Python, Elasticsearch. You form opinions by looking at the data, not just the documentation.
• Map the journey. Prepare source-to-target mappings, migration mappings and transformation rules that engineers can implement without guesswork.
• Leave a paper trail worth following. Document processes and enable knowledge transfer, so what you learn becomes something the whole hub keeps.
What you bring
• 5+ years on data and analytical projects
• Strong requirements analysis: elicitation, workshops and stakeholder interviews
• Hands-on data profiling with SQL, Spark SQL and Python (Databricks or Hadoop)
• Data modeling fundamentals and comfort with JSON
• Experience with data management processes (DAMA-DMBOK)
• Product owner experience, or a track record of partnering closely with one
• Advanced communication: managing expectations and presenting to senior stakeholders
• Comfortable with modern data-visualisation tools

Beyond the tech: you're a translator by nature, patient enough to run a fourth workshop when the requirements still aren't clear, and direct enough to tell a senior stakeholder their data isn't saying what they hope it says.
