On behalf of an established shipping and logistics company in Suriname, part of a wider group of companies, GameChangers Recruitment is looking for a Managing Director. This is the top job in the company: you set the course, lead the management team and own the results — at a time when maritime activity in the region is gaining real momentum.

Role Overview

As Managing Director you report directly to the Group CEO and carry full responsibility for the sustainable growth, profitability and further development of the organisation. You lead the management team and make sure services to principals, clients and other stakeholders are delivered efficiently, safely and to a consistently high standard.

You are the face of the company — internally and externally. You build and maintain strong relationships with principals, port authorities, terminals, government bodies and other players in the maritime sector, and you actively spot and develop new commercial opportunities that strengthen the company’s market position.

🔎 Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Growth
• Translate group strategy into a clear business plan, targets and budget for the company
• Drive sustainable growth and profitability, and report on performance to the Group CEO
• Identify new commercial opportunities and build strategic partnerships
• Strengthen the company’s position in the Surinamese shipping and logistics market

Leadership & Organisation
• Lead, coach and develop the management team
• Build a high-performance culture focused on ownership, safety and service
• Make sure the organisation has the right people, structure and capabilities to grow

Operations & Service Delivery
• Oversee efficient, safe and high-quality services to principals and clients
• Monitor business results and optimise processes across the operation
• Champion innovation and continuous improvement initiatives

Stakeholder Management & Representation
• Represent the company internally within the group and externally in the market
• Maintain strong relationships with principals, port authorities, terminals and government bodies
• Negotiate with partners and clients to secure long-term, profitable business

👤 Profile We’re Looking For
• Education: Bachelor’s level (HBO) thinking and working level, preferably in maritime economics, business administration, finance or law
• Experience: At least 10 years in a leadership position within shipping or logistics
• Maritime know-how: Solid understanding of maritime operations and of how principals, ports and terminals work together
• Commercial edge: Strong strategic, commercial and negotiation skills, with a track record of growing a business
• Leadership: Proven ability to lead a management team and drive results through people
• Languages: Excellent written and spoken communication in English and Dutch
