Build ML models and analytics that turn data into decisions. You take problems from notebook to production and prove the value of what you ship.

We're building something that doesn't exist yet in Suriname: a young, ambitious AI & Tech hub where local talent gets a real shot at world-class technology careers, without leaving home.

An AI hub lives or dies by one thing: whether its models actually work, and whether the insights behind them turn into decisions people trust.

That's where you come in. You'll do hands-on data science end to end: discovery, analysis, modeling, testing and evaluation, primarily on Amazon SageMaker. Not slideware data science but the real thing, where your models ship, your analysis changes what the team builds next, and turning data into decisions is your daily job description, not a tagline.

And because we're early, you'll do more than model. You'll help define what good data science looks like here: the rigor, the honesty about uncertainty, the habit of asking whether this actually helps. And you'll pass that on to the Surinamese data talent coming up behind you.

What you'll do
• Build models that ship. Develop machine learning models using Amazon SageMaker and other ML tools, from first experiment to tested, evaluated and production-ready.
• Turn analysis into decisions. Conduct data analysis and deliver insights the team can act on. If a finding doesn't change a decision, you'll be the first to say so.
• Work shoulder to shoulder with engineering. Collaborate with data engineering, software engineering and product to build and maintain the pipelines and workflows your models depend on. You know a model is only as good as the data feeding it.
• Make data make sense to everyone. Support non-technical stakeholders, keep data accurate and consistent, and explain your work without hiding behind jargon. Here, translating is part of the science.

What you bring
• Hands-on ML model development experience, ideally with Amazon SageMaker
• Strong statistical analysis skills
• Data modeling and data management fundamentals
• Working knowledge of ML infrastructure: you understand what happens to a model after the notebook
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical audiences alike

Nice to have

Apache Spark

Beyond the tech: you're curious, honest about what the data does and doesn't say, and energized by an environment where you help decide how things are done, not just execute how they've always been done.
